Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about WebFiling.

Getting started

WebFiling is a professional software platform for UK accountants, company secretaries, and law firms to manage Companies House filings across a portfolio of client companies. It provides confirmation statement filing (CS01), accounts filing (AA), company incorporation (IN01), a deadline dashboard, address book, client document generation, and team access controls.

No. WebFiling is an independent software platform. We use the official Companies House XML Software Filing Gateway to submit filings electronically, but we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting as an agent of Companies House or His Majesty's Government.

WebFiling is designed for professionals who manage Companies House obligations on behalf of others: accountants, company secretaries, law firms, business formation agents, and finance directors managing a corporate group. It is a portfolio management platform, not a tool for one-off personal filings.

You can create an account, add your first company, and be ready to file within 10 minutes. No sales call, no lengthy onboarding, no professional services engagement required.

Filing

WebFiling currently supports: Confirmation Statements (CS01), Accounts Filing (AA) for dormant, micro-entity, and small companies, and Company Incorporation (IN01). Additional filing types are in development.

WebFiling submits your filing data directly to Companies House via the XML Software Filing Gateway — the official channel for software-to-Companies-House electronic submission. You receive a transaction reference number immediately upon acceptance. There is no intermediate queue and no paper required.

No. WebFiling uses its own approved presenter credentials for gateway submission on behalf of subscribers. You do not need to register your own presenter account with Companies House Software Filing.

Companies House processes the submission and returns a transaction reference immediately in most cases. The filing is recorded in your WebFiling account with a full status history. If Companies House rejects a submission (e.g. data validation errors), the rejection reason is displayed so you can correct and resubmit.

Yes, provided you have the appropriate authority from the company and its officers. Accountants, company secretaries, and agents regularly file on behalf of clients. WebFiling provides power of attorney and authority form generation to document that authorisation.
